Other Highlights

  • Port Jackson hosted its first State championship in Sydney for the o65s

  • o60s remained unbeaten at home in the 60s Carnival against Northern NSW, Southern NSW and South Queensland, 18 players were utilised across the 3 days.

Items of Note

  • In my review of PlayHQ, I counted the following number of players in over 60s fixtures this season (some overlap, and a few newbies going to Quirindi in April)

    • 77 in o60s fixtures (15 Regional, 8 State, 3 Home Carnival)

    • 39 in o65s fixtures (1 Regional, 6 State)

  • Fixture review for next season to consider

    • Strength of some oppositions at each age group (some 60s Region teams are weaker mid-week)

    • CBC will be dropped

    • March a harder month immediately following State championships

    • o65s Carnival will need to move from February now that the State championship is in that month

    • Greater use of Tours (Northern, Barossa are possibilities)

  • Volunteering across the Club has been exceptional with:

    • Too many to mention that offered themselves as Match Managers at the 65s State Championship and the 60s Carnival

    • Captains and Team Managers for all games including midweek games.

Special Mentions

  • The 60s Committee made up of Guy Kingsmill, Mark Wilson and David Trewin who did not miss a beat in helping with the organising of the fixture list, selecting teams and organising the logistics

  • Selection Committees for o60s and o65s (John Adamson, Peter O’Reilly, Stuart Ridge and Mark Wilson)

  • The whole of the State Tournament o60s Carnival Committee (including those above) but special mention to:

    • Neil Brodie ensuring everyone got fed and watered

    • Ian Pryde for organising our umpire requirements

    • Douglas Latto for ‘finding’ additional grounds for the State Tournament

Tim Jones for his tireless work on PlayHQ (all season).

Summary

A successful season on the field that will be challenging to replicate but we will give it a go.
